The Chip is my test movie. I refer to it as a test movie because first of all I didn’t know what I was doing and secondly, I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into. Investing $25,000 in a movie is a crazy notion. What was I thinking? Then I thought to myself it can’t be that difficult to make a movie. Little did I know. The Chip was an idea my mother and I created. I couldn’t figure how to make it funny that so it ended up being a R rated sci-fi drama. Colin Bressler, did assist me with the writing, the auditioning of actors and the booking of locations. Joe Walker and Presley Weber did a great job portraying Nick and Nora. The Chip was a learning experience in regard to the writing, script editing, film editing, and of course, the rewriting. The Chip started out with 40 scenes and we had to cut it down to 20. I think all the actors did a very good job portraying their characters. I included Crack Up scenes at the end of the movie with the credits. Again, I want to thank everyone involved in the production of The Chip.
When I was writing The Chip, I never thought of my office building, my home, and my two vehicles as studio sets. My office became a police station, a detective’s interview room, and the storage shed. My home was for Steven Hendrick, and one vehicle I modified it into a police car. Betsy Peterson was sweet enough to loan us her home for several days of filming. Betsy learned a lot as well. I didn’t realize my acquaintances and friends were to become actors. I’m speaking of Juanita Velasquez Bowling, friend, as the KAI assistant, Mary Chauret, friend, as Nancy Drake, Mark Allen, Mayor of Cibolo, as Detective Tony Charles, Sheryl Sachtleben, Guadalupe County Judge, as Judge Austin, and Harvey Faulkner, Guadalupe County Constable, as Bailiff Faulkner and Cimarron Gilson, Estate Planning Attorney in Guadalupe County, as the Defendant’s Attorney. Hedda Schaan, Renee Medina, and Helen Ross, friends, volunteered to be extras. Everyone did a great job! I thank each of you very much!
Kyle Kramm of Seguin Chamber of Commerce was a big help in getting extras for the courtroom.
Doreen Leuhlfling was instrumental in obtaining the use of the courtroom.
As I was filming The Chip, comical ideas entered my head. So I decided to revise The Chip into The Chip Munk Sci-fi Comedy. I wrote a few funny lines for a few scenes and I dubbed in the new lines.
I learned a lot from The Chip and I think I’m ready to make Mapache.
See you in Port Aransas,
